Kitchen Countertop Replacement Options 

As we start 2024 here at Assembly Squad Construction, we want to guide you through what style, type, and cost to replace your countertop; let's begin by saying that as a kitchen remodeling company that remodels hundreds of kitchens in the Chicago area, we have seen a significant majority of people that chooses to go with Quartz. We will break it down for you in this article. 

Wood Counter

There are many homeowners that like wood countertops as it being warm to the kitchen, are not expensive, and can fit into any budget; the problem with wood countertops is that they are not going to give you the look of a sleek modern kitchen and it's not going to be durable as stone, its a very option but doable and not top of our list. 

Cost: $30-70 for SQF installed

​Stainless Steel Counter

Stainless steel has been around for a long time; however, we have seen more people install these in commercial kitchens, where there is more high traffic with cooking; it is easier to clean and resists heat and bacteria. The problem is that you must clean much more, and dents can appear quickly. 

Cost: $70 - $135 for SQF installed 

​Laminate Counter

Laminate has been around for decades; this is one of the most affordable ones, has deficient maintenance needed, and is very good cost-effective; it doesn't require too much cleaning, overall this is an option for people with a tight budget that would kike to replace their old countertop for something newer before going with stone shortly. 

Cost: $10 - $30 for SQF  installed

​Granite Counter

Granite was a perfect option in the 90s and early 2000s. Choosing granite will give you the most expensive look in your kitchen space; it's durable and easy to clean. Granite is one of the best on our list. But in the late 2000s, this option has become less as popular than it used to be.

​Concrete Counter

A concrete countertop is an excellent option; not only will it bring you an expensive and modern look, but it will also add significant value; it sends up to heat and heavy use; from our remodeling experience, we have seen many of our clients choosing it due to highly cost compare to the others, but we think that this is one of the best countertop types around. 

Cost: $70 - $130 for SQF installed

​Quartz

And the winner is..  in 2024, Quartz is the most stone around, a significant majority of people choosing it, there are many colors and pattern options to choose from, in regards to maintenance, it's super easy to clean, we are seeing more and more people choosing it, if you want sleek, modern yet a bit classic go with Quartz. 

Cost: $45- $90 for SQF installed
